This gallery is of the Uranium and highly fluorescent mineral from Utah, Andersonite  which is Na2CaUO2(CO3)3 • 6H2O. These specimens are from Yellow Cat Mesa, Grand County, Utah.  In the summer of 2004 the state of Utah closed and sealed all mines in this area under their on going mine reclamation project.  These specimens were just acquired as part of a local collection in Salt Lake City.  These specimens have complete coverage which I have not seen before and are choice fluorescent specimens.  Photos are shown in normal light and under sw/lw combination.  Andersonite is fluorescent with either shortwave or longwave.   Note: this is a soluble mineral, so it can not be in water!   April 2005
