23  5misciss ((HYDROXYLHERDERITE)),  $75 MINIMUM BID, Morro Redondo Mine, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil,  3 x 3 x 2 cm, Large thumbnail, Small Miniature,  Here is a twinned lustrous light purple terminated Hydroxylherderite crystal from Brazil.  There are internal fractures which all that I have seen had.  This was from 5 to 10 years ago from a Brazilian dealer no longer in business.   The faces are glassy and undamaged, the termination is undamaged.  The two wide edges are rough for some reason ( maybe contact).  The two narrow edges are fine.

25    7hlkmr ((APOPHYLLITE, STILBITE)),  $10 MINIMUM BID, Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India,  12 x 8 x 5 cm, Cabinet, Nice example of this common India zeolite combo.  Apophyllite crystals have the flat blocky terminations and are not damaged or cleaved.  I take that back.  I see three that are cleaved although you can not hardly tell the difference.  T'was a little dirty and so ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner and its one lustrous good looking beauty now.

46   5iddbph ((HOLFERTITE, TOPAZ, HEMATITE)),  $50 MINIMUM BID, Searle Canyon, Thomas Range, Juab County, Utah, Thumbnail,  Many times I have heard about great Holfertites but they are never visible except under a microscope or at the very least a loop.   One is on the right bottom park of the Topaz and is 2.5 mm in length.  There is a second one on the left on a Hematite and it is 1 mm in length.  The others that I have had on are ones I cannot see and hopefully I take an in focus photo which blowns up the crystal.  This one is going to be great, actually seeing the crystal to photo it.  As you can figure the Holfertite are the two yellow needle like crystals.

Large Miniature, 5.7 x 4.5 x 3.6 cm

 

A sharply crystallized example of this rare sulfate species, formerly known as Schonite, from a classic locality long abandoned. Minor halite is associated underneath and around the backside. It is, overall, a very attractive miniature. It carries an old label from the Bergakadmemie Freiberg. Sharp and complete all around, very 3-dimensional.
