1     09fbdjr  ((PYRITE, QUARTZ)),   $10 MINIMUM BID, Butte, Montana,  12 x 6 x 4 cm,  Cabinet,  A 2 cm Pyrite crystal on a druze of small Quartz.  The lustrous crystal has some iridescense and a small spot of contact on the front and a ding on the back of this complete crystal. 

2  09fbdjr  ((BORNITE)),   $10 MINIMUM BID, Butte, Montana,  10 x 7 x 3 cm,  Cabinet,  A Butte specimen of massive Bornite, and important copper ore.  The metallic blue Bornite also has brassy Pyrite interdispersed.

10   09fbdjtl  ((COVELLITE, minor CHALCOCITE)),   $45 MINIMUM BID, Leonard Mine, Butte, Montana,  5 x 4 x 3.5 cm,  Miniature,  Butte is famous for its world class Covellite specimens.  Here is a miniature showing the metallic blue color of Covellite with minor silvery Chalcocite.

 

 

11  09fblzii  ((WULFENITE)),   $15 MINIMUM BID, Urumqi, Kuruktag Mts, Xinjiang Uygur Region, China,  6 x 4 x 2 cm,  Miniature,  A couple of years ago superb Chinese Wulfenites were found.  However almost all have some damage on the specimens perhaps due to collection techniques, handling, or blasting damage.  This specimen has thick blades of red orange Wulfenite crystals with some damage.  The interesting part of this specimen is that the reverse has some micro sized excellent lustrous gemmy undamaged crystals.

17   09fbbmie  ((ANDORITE, PYRITE)),   $20 MINIMUM BID, San Jose Mine, Oruro City, Oruro Department, Bolivia,  1.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm,  Thumbnail, The best specimens of this sulfosalt species are from the San Jose Mine in Bolivia.  Here is a thumbnail sized specimen that is comprised of several parallel striated crystals. The terminations may be contact planes.  Also an associated octahedral Pyrite crystal present.

 

 

18  09fbbma  ((PYROMORPHITE)),   $10 MINIMUM BID, Huari-Huari Mine, Potosi Department, Bolivia,  5 x 5 x 2.5 cm,  Miniature, Pyromorphite from Bolivia was rare or unknown until a new find in 2008.  They are certainly not world class but a must for a Bolivian suite or Pyromorphite suite.

19    09fbbml  ((COPPER pseudomorph after ARAGONITE)),   $10 MINIMUM BID, Corocoro, La Paz Department, Bolivia, 1.4 x 1.2 x 1 cm,  Thumbnail, This is the well known Bolivian pseudomorph.  Hexagonal crystals of Copper after Aragonite.  Sometimes the Copper is cleaned giving it a shiny or artificial look.  This one has not been cleaned and has some greenish Malachite coating.  The crystal is a floater and complete.

Mindat does not reference Hendrixite and does show Biotite at Sterling Hill.  But I have also seen Hendrixite labeled several different times.  Anyone know.  Is this a local name for Biotite from Sterling Hill?

Large Miniature, 5.7 x 4.5 x 3.6 cm

 

A sharply crystallized example of this rare sulfate species, formerly known as Schonite, from a classic locality long abandoned. Minor halite is associated underneath and around the backside. It is, overall, a very attractive miniature. It carries an old label from the Bergakadmemie Freiberg. Sharp and complete all around, very 3-dimensional.


 

7hhlmit  ((FLUORESCENT APATITE)),   $30 MINIMUM BID,  Sapo Mine, Goiabeira, Minas Gerais, Brazil,  4 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm, Miniature,  Here is a great miniature.  It is double terminated stacked crystals of Apatite which has a hollow core and is Fluorescent orange under UV.   Completely undamaged.
9chmrl  ((CALCITE pseudomorph after GLAUBERITE)),  $10 MINIMUM BID, Camp Verde, Yavapai County, Arizona,  9 x 6.5 x 5 cm,  Cabinet, Excellent large specimen which is nearly completely undamaged.  One tip on one vertical crystal missing on the bottom of the specimen. The small specimens are common and easily collected but these large specimens are much harder to collect and not nearly as common as the small ones.  Glauberite is a sulfate and Calcite is a carbonate.  If it dissolves in HCl,  then it was a Calcite pseudo.
