These were 4 specimens from an old local Utah collection which sold in lots at an auction. Moqui marbles were collected for years in southern Utah which was made the Grand Staircase National Park locking up oil reserves and Moqui Marble collecting. They were used by the local Indians for games as marbles and hence their name. They are actually iron concretions which have weathered out of the sandstone over many years and are prized by the metaphysical crowd for their healing powers. They also protect the home from intruders when used in a slingshot. |
