 | These from here and Ross County are usually identified as Marcasite but studies show they are Pyrite. The Pyrite/Marcasite crystals on these many times crystalize around a fossil snail or clam shell. Similar but much larger Pyrite/Marcasite snake like formations are found in Ross County, Ohio and are thought to be Pyrite/Marcasite worm or other sea creature burrows.
