18idmris ((FLEXIBLE SANDSTONE)), $5 MINIMUM BID, North Carolina, 10 x 4 x .7 cm, Cabinet | |
It flexs up and down. Over flex or force will cause is to break in two pieces. I also held on end flat on a desk and it flexs 5 mm up and 5 mm down. This unusual sandstone has its sand grains joined with a micaeous cement giving the flexibility. circa 1950 to 1960. I just acquired in Denver from a retired dealers old stock that he just found. Possibly if cut length wise into two pieces would enhance the flexibility. 1 and 2 listing are the last two small specimen |
