20hhgd.is ((FLUORITE)), $25 MINIMUM BID, Navidad Mine, Abasolo, Rodeo, Durango, Mexico, 8 x 7 x 2.5 cm, Cabinet

I had one of these listed about a month ago and this one just showed up in another box of Davidson specimens brought to Tucson. These are great in that the sunlight actually improves the color and does not fade the color as in some mineral specimens. Story goes that the miners found fragments of pink Fluorite outside the mine on the ground but could not locate the pink ones in the mine, only colorless Fluorite. Then leaving a flat of the colorless specimen sit in the sun on day, they had turned to the pink color the next day. They remain pink even when taken out of the sunlight. Pink octahedral Fluorite from Mexico. 15 to 20 years ago these were coming out of Mexico but probably not producing any longer. Rarely seen available now. ex Glenn Davidson collection, ex Weinrich Minerals specimen.
