_small.jpg) | Three sharp cubes of lustrous Pyrite penetration twins forming a matrix less stacked cluster of three. These are in a Quarry of solid rock and the matrix rock is removed from the cubes. Generally the cubes of separated during cleaning and then reassembled. Soaking may cause them to separate. The Pyrite crystals have a talc like coating allowing the matrix to come off without clinging to the pyrite surfaces and cleanly separating from the pyrite crystals. Excellent specimens in the Smithsonian with multiple stacked crystals. ex Glenn Davidson collection. |
