14btcqrir  ((FIBROUS SUGILITE)),  $50 MINIMUM BID, Nchwining 3 Mine, Kuruman, Northern Cape, South Africa,  2 x 1 x 1 cm, Thumbnail

This one was sold on a previous auction but the bidder upgraded into a more expensive specimen if Sugilite.  Here is a very pretty and showy and very rare fibrous Sugilite. It is a floater nugget.  Part of the lot was with a wholesale dealer in Tucson this year and part was with Kalahari Classics.  Check out their website www.Kalahariclassics.com  under new finds or Fibrous Sugilite. Checkout out the prices for these rare specimens.  Some are lighter colored with the darker colored specimens being the higher quality and more expensive.  The story is that fibrous Sugilite was never found before and found a year and a half ago with most held back and not announced to protect the find.  Nothing more has been found and hence brought to Tucson this year.  I really liked these and picked the best dark purple specimens under the $3000 per specimen price.  I was told one cabinet sized specimen previously was sold for $50,000.  I went through about 7 flats of specimens and picked out a flat and a half as the dealer unpacked the flats from his shipment of Tucson material just delivered when he first arrived to set up.     Here is a suite of specimens on the auction in several bargain minimal price ranges.  This are not soft and can be easily handled without damaging the specimens.  They are light fibrous Malachite.  My plan when I have time is to do a webpage at the normal retail pricing.
