30904jhar GOETHITE pseudomorph after PYRITE, $200 MINIMUM BID, Pelican Point, Utah County, Utah, 12 x 10 x 6.5 cm, Cabinet

Pelican Point has the finest Goethite pseudomorphs in the world. Years ago John Holfert commercially open pitted the location with a trackhoe and found this great pseudomorphs which have no attachment but were in a hard clay pocket within the harder solid rock. He prepped them and this one with his "secret" process and sold them exceptionally well in Tucson years ago. This one was one of the few he had left. The hole is filled in and only a few broken small pieces are found on the surface. The number is stuck on with min tack and is easily removed. I had this as part of my collection. When John sold in Tucson similar specimens were priced from $400 to $600 dollars. He mentioned that he sold one long narrowing specimen to the Martin Zinn collection for $1500. These large ones are never seen any more and are all in collections. It is also too costly and too much work to reopen the pit.
