22btrus.ns    ((TRINITITE)),  $15 MINIMUM BID,  Trinity site, White Sands Missile Range, Socorro County, New Mexico, USA.   2.5 x 1.3 x .5 cm, Thumbnail

This is fused sand from the site of the first Atomic Bomb explosion at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico on July 16 1945, almost 77 years ago back in the good old days when $0.85 bought 5 gal of gasoline. A little atomic bomb trivia! Specimens were collected by a local rock shop in bulk prior to becoming the White Sands National Park. The Government bulldozed all the trinitite and probably buried it when it became a national park. This material has very little radioactivity left as does the National Park. Mounted in a perky box and a good sized specimen for these.
