| Uncommon and rare location for Utah Red Beryl which is reported to be completely played out. This is an old specimen from mining the area many years ago. There are two hexagonal Red Beryl crystals, one about 2 mm and the other 1 mm on a matrix of the white rhyolite. The Wah Wah Mtns, Beaver county, UT is the most famous Red Beryl location with its prismatic and many times gemmy crystals. Topaz Mtn, Thomas range is the second locality but these are flat crystals with a short c axis. Some form rosettes from multiple crystals. Wildhorse Springs produced the least amount of specimens. These are prismatic like the Wah Wah's but are smaller and not as gemmy. This is still the most uncommon of the three locations. |
