 | Here is a specimen of the Buckhorn Barite. Some chipping on the edges. This one has alot of Fluorite occurring as rounded mounds on one side of the Barite crystals. Fluorite is a light grey green color and blends in well. Back is contact with other Barite with damage. These came out in the late 80's, early 90's when a large pocket was found. Private claim and hard to get permission to collected any longer. This one has not been cleaned. HCl created heat that fractures the Barite. Perhaps ultrasonic is the best method. This came from a flat that was collected by Phil Richardson, active is self collecting and one of 4 to first collect the newly discovered pocket. It was acquired when Phil relocated from Salt Lake City to Phoenix. |
