94hhjt.ar  ((PALYGORSKITE)),  $35 MINIMUM BID, Laurel Hill, Secaucus, Hudson County, New Jersery,  9 x 7 x 4 cm, Cabinet

Palygorkskite is a strange mineral species and known as mountain leather. This specimen is soft like chamois. It is known from Washington state, Austria, and other localities. I have had a very soft specimen from Austria and large specimens from Washington state that look and feel light a hornets nest. This is the only one that I have had or seen from New Jersey. It is wrapped around a little matrix and a Calcite and a Chalcopyrite crystal. This was in my personal collection and acquired from a collector in New Jersey by way of a trade back in 1994. Ex Jim McEwen collection
