8904 05btdbts   ((CALCITE)), fluorescent,  $10 MINIMUM BID, Ophir Hill Mine, Tooele County, Utah,  7 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm, Cabinet

Here are flattened rhombs of Calcite which are fluorescent red orange under SWUV on a matrix of small terminated Quartz.  Calcite specimens from Ophir are somewhat uncommon since they have been collected without preserving damage free condition.  Most are simply but into HCl to dissolve the Calcite to expose Scheelite crystals hiddened under the Calcite.  This specimen probably does not have any Scheelite.  It is unusual in that there is Calcite on exposed Quartz.
