13ecganr   ((PYRITE)),   $30 MINIMUM BID, Bingham Canyon Mine, Bingham District, Salt Lake City, Utah,  3.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm, Miniature,

Here is a pyritahedron of Pyrite.  It has some contact on the bottom where originally attached to another crystal.  Faces and edges are in great shape.  It is from a rare occurance about 4 years ago at the famous Bingham Open Pit Copper Mine in Salt Lake City when these were found.   Many employees got a couple of these but highly prize them.  Most have damage with a small percentage being undamaged.  They did get to about 5 cm but the majority were smaller than 2.5 cm.  This is a fine example of an uncommon Pyrite crystal from Bingham Open Pit.  Also  there was two forms: one with faces as this one: the other with hoppered oddly formed faces.
