13hhjjr ((TRILOBITE ELRATHIA KINGI with BITE MARK healing)), $25 MINIMUM BID, Wheeler Shale, Delta, Utah, 9 x 8 x 1.5 cm, Cabinet | |
Here is a Cambrian age trilobite from the Wheeler Shale formation. The name is Elrathia kingi. The largest one is 4 cm long. Average size is 2 to 3 cm. So this is a larger than usual specimen. This specimen also has a rare healed bite mark. Other sea creatures ate these trilobites. The lower ribs are not as wide and they are also shorter than the top ribs. This is evidence that a non lethal bite was taken and the wound healed and carapace partially regrew but left a scar. |
