_small.jpg) | Zinkblende is Sphalerite in German and Siebenburgen in Transylvania in German which is in Romania. Goggle and not mindat helped on that. Old label is attached to specimen. Pretty individual Sphalerite crystals on matrix which are iridescent blue and magenta similar to Covellite specimen iridescent colors. Checking on Covellite from Romania, there is a specimen of Covellite coated Chalcopyrite on Calcite from Ocna de Fier, Caraş-Severin County, Romania. These do appear to be Sphalerite crystals rather than Chalcopyrite but the iridescent colors do make sense that the Sphalerite is coated with Covellite. ex Glen Davidson collection. |
