14fhjwis  ((AUSTINITE)), $15 MINIMUM BID, Gold Hill Mine, Gold Hill, Tooele County, Utah,  14 x 6.5 x 6 cm, Cabinet,

The Gold Hill Mine specimens were collected about 1991 by Jim Wilson. This large specimen has isolated groups of Austinite. One occurance or form at Gold Hill that Austinite takes is clusters of radial growing crystals lying on the matrix. This specimen also has some white groups of Calcite or Aragonite crystals. These have crystals that look scalenahedral like Calcite or even with slender sharp pointed crystals like Aragonite. Austinite is fairly uncommon and harder and harder to find at Gold Hill since Gold Hill is a very popular collecting locality for local clubs, tours, and small commercial dealer collecting with its variety of species present. It is one of the top Utah collecting localities for rockhounding. In the 1990's specimens were alot easier to find and collection. Also underground had been sealed shut by the state of Utah. I am not sure if currently there is access underground of not. ex Jim Wilson.
