 13hhjjis   ((AMMONITE)),   $1 MINIMUM BID, Morocco,  12 x 10 x 1.5 cm, Cabinet,

Here is a Moroccan Ammonite.  These are found within limestone and then shaped and polished in the form of an ammonite to resemble an ammonite.  This one is strange in that it is only on one side.  The Morrocans also construct decorator specimens with multiple ammonites and trilobite.  The trilobites can actually be plaster fakes.  I think that this is an ammonite, with is real,  from one of those plates. The ammonite also has an old tight crack but is does not extend on the back.  So the crack was there before the piece was part of the plate. o  Perhaps the plate broke or the Ammonite pulled off the plate.  It is still a nice decorator piece with a flat back.  These Moroccan pieces of Orthoceras and Ammonites are all just decorator pieces with no rarity or collector value.
