5swir ((TOURMALINE, CLEVELANDITE, LEPIDOLITE)), Pederneira Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil, 12 x 10 x 7.5 cm, cabinet

Here is a cabinet size specimen with three Tourmalines which are known as watermelon Tourmaline because they have a dark green outside and a pinkish red core. If sliced they resemble a slice of watermelon. In this specimen the Tourmalines are unterminated, terminations are contacted with the rest of the specimen, and the one appears to have a thin point of a termination. The specimen also has white Clevelandite flower like stacks of bladed crystals. Most of these are broken or damaged from being contacted with more or larger parts of the specimen. One grouping however is very nice. The rest of the specimen is a purplish brown Lepidolite acting to hold the specimen together.
