SPIDER, ANT, LEAFHOPPER, FLY, MOTH in AMBER (COPAL), Columbia, South America, 8 x 7 x 2 cm | |
Large piece of polished Copal which is the more recent form of Amber. Amber is mostly from the Baltic and Copal is from Columbia and Dominican Republic. This specimen has a multitude of different insects. In my opinion there is an Ant, Leafhopper, Fly, and a small Moth with striped wings. There is even a spider who lost a leg which is floating nearby in the amber. Spiders are uncommon and highly desired. In this one piece has an entire collection of insect types. |
