Here is a Pennsylvania locality for Copper. Copper east of the Mississippi River is an uncommon occurrance. This specimen has been etched as some of the Calcite has the rounded appearance when dissolving in HCl. After etching to expose more Copper some of the remaining Calcite was removed giving it a typical fractured Calcite surface. This locality was Quarried for the Serpentine aka greenstone for use in making shingles and other industrail uses. |
