20hhdw.is ((SCHEELITE, CALCITE)), $125 MINIMUM BID, Ophir Hill Consolidated Mine, Ophir, Ophir Mining District, Tooele County, Utah, 11.5 x 9 x 6 cm, Cabinet

Here is an excellent Ophir Scheelite. Mostly likely these will no longer be collected here again. The easy ones have all been collected years ago. The Scheelite are typically covered with Calcite crystals that also fluoresce red orange. The Calcite must be dissolved with HCl to expose the Scheelite. Most specimens have the Calcite damaged since the main effort is collecting for the Scheelite hidden under the Calcite. On this specimen some of the Calcite was left to give a bicolor fluorescent of the red orange Calcite and bright white Scheelite. On the photo the Scheelite over powers the Calcite but in a dark room the bicolor is really impressive. These are in collections and rarely available. ex Dana Wilson MD collection.
