The Magnetite iron ore was processed at the mine location into these iron pellets. This made transportation easier to the iron and steel companies. These Iron Pellets were transported on Railroad cars. No telling how many of these survived. I have a few from being in the area during the life of the Bethlehem Steel owned Mine. Cheap Japanese steel imported caused the mine to be shut down never to be openned. The complete mine property has been sold to a delveloper that made his own town with his own zoning rules. He built a large incinerator to burn and process all of Philadelaphia's trash with trash trucks arriving daily |
