 | Bingham Canyon Mine is Salt Lake City's world famous open pit Copper Mine, Specimens are hard to find. The mine does not allow collecting. There are old specimens around but in collections throughout the world. During the last 10 years crystallized Copper, rare at the mine, and pyritahedron floater like Pyrite crystals were found. Despite the no collecting rules, a few were saved for collectors. Chalcanthite is water soluble and Copper Sulphate not to be ingested. I have seen large cabinet specimens that look just like these in a local museum. Dennis McMurdie collection. |
