I have another specimen which is #23050 with the Academy label but no label with #23058. I will include a copy of the #23050 label. ex Philadelphia Academy of Science, ex Charles Palache a well known American mineralogist and crystalographer 1869-1954, whom retired from teaching at Harvard in 1941. Americas large scale granite quarrying began in West Quincy which became known as the granite city in 1825. The last active quarry closed in 1863 when Metropolitan District Commission purchased 22 acres. |
