Dark Marroon colored Thallium species, Gillulyite. One day in about 1991 Five local mineral collectors went to Mecur to look for the Thallium species Lorandite. They found an unknown dark red cleavage mineral. Dr Jim Wilson was with the group and did analysis and found it was close to Lorandite but also had Antimony present in the chemistry making is a new species. They went back to Mecur the next weekend only to find the area of the discovery disappeared from the mining and no other specimens have been found since. The AMA made it a new species in 1991 American Mineralogist 76: 653-6 in 1991. I purchased some of the Dr Jim Wilson specimens (not related to Dana Wilson MD), several years ago. This specimen was a gift from Jim and Paula Wilson to Dana in 1994. ex Dana Wilson MD collection. ex Jim and Paula Wilson collection.
