15dm410    ((ZINCITE)),   $25 MINIMUM BID,  Franklin Furnace, New Jersey,  4 x 2.5 x 2 cm, Miniature,  29.74 gm

29.74 gm of Synthetic Zincite from New Jersey.  This is Zincite from inefficient  smelters no longer used today.  More efficient smelters no longer has this by product of the smelting of zinc ore.  Poland Zincite used to be plentiful 10 years ago but very little is current available.  Room full of specimens at shows are no longer see.  Lucky if you see a few specimens.  This specimen contains gorgeous red orange gemmy crystals and is from New Jersey.   I have not seen this from New Jersey. I guess is could actually be a specimen from Poland mislabel. i Great viewing with a loop.  The base is also Zincite but is more of an olive brownish grey color.  The red orange has a small amount of Manganese impurity causing the coloration.         Dennis McMurdie collection.  ex Gil Griffin collection #McGu45
