7ihjhe ((RARE new find PINK HALITE)),  $15 MINIMUM BID, Great Salt Lake, Tooele County, Utah, 10.5 x 10 x 9.5 cm, Cabinet

This is the first time known that the maroon colored algae/bacteria that causes the Searles Lake Pink Halite in California has shown up in Utah. The occurrance was in one shallow pond which has now dried up. This specimen was from another pond that produced light pink specimens but large specimens. This specimen is a complete round knob of crystals with some type of plant core. We do not know if this will happen again next year or if this is a one time occurance. These are sharply formed somewhat hopper shaped crystals. Undamaged specimen.
