3jkjciss  ((CALCITE pseudomorph after ARAGONITE?)),  $15 MINIMUM BID, Snohomish County, Washington, 5 x 3 x 3 cm, Miniature,

Uncommon to rare pseudomorph from the northwest. Calcite has replaced was is believed to might have been Aragonite. It is prismatic and terminated. These were found once 10 to 15 years ago with only three large specimens and a flat or so of smaller specimens. They are covered with flattened rhombs of Calcite which is very hard to remove without damaging the specimen. Most specimens except the smallest have been repaired. The best two specimens are in the Rice Museum in Oregon. I bought many if not most the find that was left after Rice bought the best two for alot of money. I also paid probably too much for the ones left. I originally had them for sale but did not sell any but prices were high. Starting bid is way under cost and I have never seen any others for sale. This one I do not believe is repaired. There is a little crack on the lower part of the matrix base. So if it is, it does not hurt it since it could be separated and not hurt the main pseudo crystal.
