2013hhsh.ns ((CALCITE, SCHEELITE)) Fluorescent $100 MINIMUM BID, Ophir Mine, Ophir District, Tooele County, Utah, 10 x 8 x 2.5 cm, Cabinet | |
This is a rare and special specimen. Normally on 99.9% of the time the Calcite is damaged and covers the Scheelite. It is etched with HCl to expose the Scheelite underneath. This is a specimen where the Calcite crystals are undamaged and did not fully cover the specimen. The octahedral yellow orange Scheelite crystals are small like normal but they have not been exposed to the damaging HCL. The are untouched gemmy octahedral Scheelite. This is another specimen that I had put into my collection for the past 8 years. In addition the source of the Scheelite at Ophir has been collected out and no access is permitted into the mine. ex Solon Hammack collection. |
