These have not been collected since the late 1990's. Only a couple of dozen, ,maybe 30, of these were actually fish tail twinned crystals like this one. This is a large specimen of the twins. It does have brown matrix contacted on the one crystal. Otherwise it would be a $300 to $600 specimen. The two generations of Calcite are seen under the bottom. The first generation seen from the specimen bottom are grey scalenahedral twinned crystals. Over these a second generation of Calcite with smaller crystals forming a white blanket over the first generation crystals. No damage, just the contact. |
