PINK TOPAZ and BIXBYITE, Thomas Range, Juab County, Utah, 5.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm | |
Every knows about Utah's famous sherry colored Topaz, but few people know about the pink Topaz. Sherry colored Topaz fades in sunlight to colorless in a few days. Pink Topaz is relatively stable but may fade over a long period of time if constantly exposed to sunlight. Here is a miniature specimen with the white rhyolite matrix with a lustrous black Bixbyite to 4 mm which is cubic with trisoctahedral corner modifications. There are also 6 Pink Topaz crystals about 5 mm in length. This is typical size as the Pink Topaz do not get large like the sherry colored ones. |
