14hlkm.iss  ((COPPER, EPIDOTE aka GREENSTONE, QUARTS)), $150 MINIMUM BID, Greenstone Quarry, Adams Co., Pennsylvania, 20 x 18.5 x 5 cm, Large Cabinet

Better in person even though the photo is not that bad. This is the largest and best specimen that I have had. Better than any of the specimens pictured in Mindat in my opinion. Sometimes the white is Calcite and sometimes Quartz. This one appears to be Quartz. The green stone I thought previously was a serpentine but descriptions that I see now suggest it is Epidote. The Mine sells greenstone for industrial uses such as in shingles. I have not heard that it was actually mining for the Copper. I just checked mindat and it seems the Quarry is for the greenstone used in roofing shingles. for the colored fine gravel on the top of shingles giving them the color. Eastern states are not known for copper specimens, here is an exception. These specimens were from an old stash of specimens in Pennsylvania
