lbns CHLORITE, MAGNETITE, OPENING BID $50, Grace Mine, Morgantown, Berks county, Pennsylvania, 11 x 9 x 7 cm, Cabinet

This is superb Grace Mine specimen. Grace Mine was an iron mine operated by Bethlehmen Steel until foreign iron suppressed prices and the mine in southeastern Pennsylvanian was forever closed and sealed and the land sold to developers. Now truck loads of garbage are brought daily from Philadelphia and dumped off in the heart of Pennylvania Dutch country on the former Bethlemhem Steel property. Superb Grace Mine Magnetites are famous and scarce. This is probably as scarce as those Magnetites. It is an undamaged Chlorite specimen. The crystals are hexagonal. The condition is amazing since Chlorite is so soft. In one area the crystals are covered with gray microcrystalline coating of Magnetite.
