11iddbnr ((Pseudo Octahedral TINCALCONITE)), $35 MINIMUM BID, Boron Open Pit Mine, Boron, Kerns County, California, 13 x 8.5 x 8 cm, Cabinet,

Here is a rare form of Tincalconite. It is formed in the dissolving tanks at the Borate refinery at Boron. These tanks are cleaned out every 10 to 20 years with a bulldozer and very few if any specimens are saved during the cleaning process. I don't know if this is still true or if processes have changed at the refinery. Harvard University and Rock Currier's specimens are nearly the only ones pictured on Mindat.org. Also this one has large crystals to 5 cm on an edge and a large specimen overall. Here is something you do not see everyday if anyday. I had never heard of these previously.
