20hhgd.ns ((SIDERITE on FLUORITE with CALCITE)), $45 MINIMUM BID, Boltsburn Mine, Rookhope, Weardale, Durham UK, 3.5 x 3 x 2.5 cm, Miniature, | |
Undamaged specimen with a cluster of fine Calcite with flattened rhombic crystals. Calcite is 180 out from the Fluorite and so the photos do not show the Calcite well. A group of 4 cubic Fluorite crystals to 1.8 cm coated with small brown Siderite crystals. Backside is a healed fluorite old cleaved surface. The bottom half of specimen is a little mobile but is locked in place by the Calcite shape as long as moderate pressure is not forcing the separation into two specimens. One of the Calcite and one of the Fluorite. The Fluorite side faces do not have the Siderite coating and show that the Fluorite is colorless translucent to transparent. ex Glen Davidson |
