00jkmdts ((AWARUITE with HEAZLEWOODITE, ZARTITE)), Type Locality, $35 MINIMUM BID, Lord Brassy Mine, Heazlewood, Tasmania, 8 x 4.5 x 4 cm, Cabinet,

a rare lustrous metallic mineral, Awaruite, a Nickle Iron mineral, in matrix. NOTE; An Australian bidder believes this to be Heazlewoodite or Pentalandite. The label says Awaruite but checking on Mindat, it looks like Heazlewoodite which is silver colored, rather than brassy Pentlandite. It is the type locality for Heazlewoodite a Nickel Sulfide. Minor associated green is Zaratite, a Nickel Carbonate. He said that the Awaruite from there is a rusty color. NOTE the label says Awaruite is the black grains on matrix. There looks to be some isolated black to silver grains with rusty peripherals. I bet the silvery larger areas are Heazlewoodite and there is also small grains of Awaruite. It was from a species collector. I just looped and examination with a scope would be better.
