_small.jpg) | This specimen was part of a group of miscellaneous flats of Academy specimens I purchased from Collectors Edge. It has a Collectors edge Phila. Academy label that just says Hull, Canada but no Museum label with it. Collectors Edge had it valued at $500. Checking on mindat.org I did not fine any Hull, Canada Grossular. A similar Grossular was from Wakefield, La Peche with 41 specimens all posted by the same person that self collected them from 2014 to 2019. Googling Hull, I found that Hull and Wakefield are towns in Canada both from the Outaouais Region of Quebec. The Phila. Academy specimen is probably much older than the Wakefield specimens. Collectors Edge probably research it as I did and priced it according to the rarity of the specimen. It has three highly lustrous honey brown Grossular crystals to 1.3 cm. ex Collectors Edge specimen, ex Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences collection. |
