17000449jknsss.nn  ((SCOLECITE, CALCITE)),  $35 MINIMUM BID, Sangamner, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra State, India,  10 x 7 x 3 cm, Cabinet

In about 2008 a new find of Scolecite was found in India.  Rudy Tschernich, past curator of the Rice Museum in Hillsboro, Oregon and author of the book on Zeolites,  puchased a large amount in Tucson that year for the purpose of contructing a large Scolecite pocket for the Rice Museum.  They did not need all the specimens in constuction of the pocket.  The lower grade extra specimens were sold as a lot early on.  The better were saved until the last of the saved specimens were finally sold off almost 10 years later last weekend to me.  Here is an excellent double spray of gemmy transparent Scolecite crystals with an associated 9 MM rhomb of gemmy Calcite speared by the Scolecite crystals.  The terminations and condition is excellent. One large crystal was missing and has healed opaque white multiple terminations.  Looking down at the terminations there in only 2 or 3 missing crystals which are off at the base and only seen by looking down from the specimen top and do not hinder or show during displaying front or back.   Its a very aesthetic specimen.   ex Rudy Tschernich collection with label.
