977 HALITE, BURKEITE, TINCALCONITE pseudomorph after BORAX, Searles Lake, Trona, California, 29 x 14 x 5 cm,

Here is a large specimen of Burkeite which are the lumpy light orange crystals making up the majority of the specimen. On the Burkeite are skeletal crystals of the well know Searles Lake Halite. Then scattered about are small crystals of Borax pseudomorphed to Tincalconite. This is a very uncommon specimen. Mostly specimens from Searles Lake are the Halite and Hanksite collected during the once a year massive field trip. Other minerals from the area are uncommon.
