7hhoris   ((4 PYRITE)),   $10 MINIMUM BID, Spring Creek, Alden, Erie County, New York, 2 to 4 cm, 4 Miniature to Thumbnails,

Here are 4 excellent and curious undamaged Pyrite specimens from New York. They are typical fossil replacement in shale and the Pyrite has replaced various fossils. The small crystals are cubo octahedrons covering the surface with a velvety shine. These are older specimens collected in the 50's. Like the Ohio specimens with the same type of origin, they are sometimes thought to be Marcasite. Both are Pyrite and frequently decompose like marcasite in humid environments. These are old specimens and have been stable in Utah's low humidity but care should be taken in storage.
