_small.jpg) | Here is a great Colemanite from Boron. It is an open vug with large sharp pointed terminations on the Colemanite crystlals. On the Colemanite crystals are spherical translucent yellow brown orbs of Calcite. The Calcites look gemmy with a glow when back lit or side lit and viewed with a loop. These yellow brown Calcite are probably Fluorescent with UVSW. Minette thought well enough of this specimen to completely grind and shape the back and back sides to make it easy to display on a stand. The back and side are rounded and not just sawn flat so that it can be positioned for display. ex Jim Minette borate collection. |
