_small.jpg) | Ludwigite crystals to 7 cm. Excellent specimen of large Ludwigite crystals. They were inside Calcite which has been etched and dissolved exposing the Ludwigite crystals. There are several of photos on Mindat.org from this locality but none as spectacular as this one, a superb example and huge crystals for the species. One of the large crystal shows that the interior is black and an outside layer is brown. The brown looks like an alteration and may be a different species. Most if not all other Ludwigite species from other localities are small crystal sprays frozen in matrix or needle like crystal inclusions in Peridot from Pakistan. |
