600420ewshis ((TETRAHEDRITE, QUARTZ, micro BOURNONITE)), $35 MINIMUM BID, Ophir Hill Mine (Ophir), Ophir Hill area, Ophir District, Tooele County, Utah, 4 x 4 x 3 cm, Miniature

Uncommon to rare specimen of Tetrahedrite from Ophir. A 1 to 1.2 cm undamaged crystal of Tetrahedrite perched on a matrix covered with terminated pin Quartz crystals. These specimens are discovered when Calcite enclosing them is dissolved, etched using HCl. There have been a few but not many Tetrahedrite specimens from Ophir. In looking at the specimen with a loop, the large crystal may have some damage but it is hard to tell even under magnification. There are a few other smaller Tetrahedrite crystals and two small micro 1 MM rare Bournonite crystals that look like a speck on the remnant Calcite with the naked eye and should be viewed with a microscope. Old material that will probably never be collected again. Access is not allowed by owners. Collected in the late 80's to early 90's by Solon Hammack a prominent Utah field collector in the 80's. ex Solon Hammack collection.
