15idhh9    ((CALCITE)),   $100 MINIMUM BID, Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, 14 x 11.5 x 3 cm, Cabinet,

Here is a double terminated gemmy Calcite, 6.5 x 3 x 2 cm, on a large sliver of matrix which is 1.5 to .5 cm thick. The Calcite is gemmy approximately top and bottom third with a little cloudy in the center half. It has an internal fracture on the bottom third as seen in the photos. The top termination is not cleaved but a little micro chipping or roughness. Bottom termination is sharp. Looking at the wide side view there are three white spots. The left and top are just light reflecting off crystal faces. The right spot is a small bruise. This bruise, the roughness on the one termination, and being slightly cloudy in the middle of the crystal keeps this from being a $3500 specimen! One high end dealer on a pristine similar specimen had a whopping $23,000 asking price a couple of years ago at the Tucson convention show. This one not pristine or perfect is a great low cost alternative.
