 | Here is a large cabinet specimen of Orpiment from Peru. It is an old specimen with huge crystals. It is in amazing shape for being such a soft mineral. The only damage can be seen in the lower center to left side is some rather minor brusing to 2 or three of the crystals. The large crystals are on a white opaque matrix. Still, as the one close up shows, if light is from the side, the Orpiment crystals have a soft internal glow. This is a specimen I have had in my collection for over 15 years. I was going to label and price it and take to the Tucson Gem and Mineral show, but it ended up being listed on this weeks auction. It was priced at $180 as a wholesale price from a wholesale dealer over 15 years ago. |
