99idcsers   ((TETRAHEDRITE on SPHALERITE with QUARTZ and CALCITE)),   $150 MINIMUM BID, Casapalca Mine, Lima Department, Peru, 16 x 16 x 7 cm,  Cabinet,

Here is a large specimen at nearly 8 pounds. The base or matrix is solid Sphalerite with a touch of Pyrite. The front is covered by Tetrahedrite crystals to 3.5 cm. Undamaged except crystal edge wear or scuffing in the iridescent purple group of Tetrahedrite crystals and one completely removed crystal which is hard to see as damage which I overlooked at first. There is also associated Calcite or Manganoan Calcite which is fluorescent and a minimum of terminated Quartz crystals. This specimen was part of the great find of Tetrahedrite specimens at Casapalca in 1999. Much of the Tetrahedrite faces have a thin coating of Chalcopyrite which is iridescent purple, magenta, and gold. It was priced at $425 as a wholesale price or $850 retail, from a wholesale dealer over 15 years ago.
