mdes QUARTZ on GALENA, $25 OPENING BID, Quiruvilca Mine, (La Libertad Mine, Quiruvilca District, Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru, 12 x 9 x 7 cm,  Large Cabinet,

This specimen has levels of Galena crystals with terminated smaller Quartz crystals underneath and Galena on the top. Reversing the specimen with the Quartz on top hides most of the Galena. With the Galena on the top ti shows about a 50 50 mix. The Galena crystals have edges that are slightly rounded and dull to the touch and not sharp. What is unique with this specimen is that the Galena's resemble that man grown Bismuth from Germany in that the surface has a patina or oxidation full of colors: magenta and blue with some gold. The Galena crystals are lustrous and full of color. This is the only specimen of Galena that I have seen look like this.
